Novak Djokovic 2-6, 2-6, 1-1 Carlos Alcaraz*
That's ridiculous, Carlos. If Djokovic hits the ball into the top left corner, he can beat most tennis players. But then again, Alcaraz is not like most tennis players.
An otherworldly forehand pass down the line from well outside the court. The shot of the match? Again! He hit a stunning backhand down the line at 0-30 for a break.
15-30, Novak responds with a great shot to a good drop shot. Alcaraz gets there but… he No way back. 30-30 with an ace. A stubborn response from the Serbian.
But Novak, knowing how good his drop shots have to be to beat Carlos, hits it a little short and a little weak into the net. 30-40, break point, deuce! Djokovic steps closer to the net and smashes it back with aplomb.
Alcaraz was on top, serving well and returning well, and when Novak cornered him and approached the net, Alcaraz sent a fruity forehand winner over his head, a beautiful passing shot, that had Alcaraz pumping his fist in celebration and getting the crowd excited to boot.
But again, a second deuce, then an ace. Novak has the advantage…
