President Trump's revenge tour continues.
Late Friday night, he issued a memo revoking access to security clearance and classification information for numerous former opponents, including Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Joseph R. Biden Jr. and “other members of Joseph R. Biden Jr.”.
Trump said in February he plans to remove access to his predecessor's confidential information briefing. It was in return – Biden did the same to him after he took office a few days after the January 6 attack. Attack on the US Capitol.
Various people who were entangled with Trump at one point were named in Friday's memo. Some were already mentioned by Trump officials as people whose security clearance would soon be revoked, so it didn't come as a shock to include it in Friday's memo. But, in summary, the name catalogue reads like a list of enemies.
There were New York's top two law enforcement officers, Letitia James (New York State Attorney General) and Alvin L. Bragg (Manhattan District Attorney), both of whom took on Trump.
There was a prominent character from the first bullet each that was brought to Trump in 2019. He was shown to have tried to help Biden get the dirt out by arming Ukraine strongly. Names included in Friday's notes: Fiona Hill, Each Hearing;Alexander Vindman, also lieutenant colonel, testified. And Norman Eisen, the lawyer who oversees the bullet each.
And then on January 6, 2021, two Republicans served on the House Selection Committee, which investigated the attacks on the U.S. Capitol, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.
“I also direct all enforcement departments and agents to revoke undelivered escort access to safeguard US government facilities from these individuals,” Trump's memo said. “This measure includes, but is not limited to, receipt of classified briefings such as the President's daily briefs and access to sensitive information held by members of the Intelligence Reports Community due to the previous tenure of the appointed individual in Congress.”
Since returning to the office, Trump has used notes like he has issued on Friday to stop anyone trying to hold him accountable, or who otherwise crossed him. Notes are broader. Earlier this week he brought out what brought security protections to Biden's adult children, Ashley and Hunter.
Last month, Trump resolved security clearances for former Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and former national security adviser Jake Sullivan (both were renamed in Friday's memo).
Trump also stripped his own former aide of security details. Within hours of taking office, he targeted John Bolton, whose former national security adviser became his enemy. Trump later did the same with Mike Pompeo, his former Secretary of State and former aide Brian Hook.
