The Winston-Salem Police Department said a shooting occurred outside the Walmart store on East Haynes Mill Road on Sunday. At 1 p.m., Winston-Salem police told WXII they had cleared the scene. Officers determined the shooting took place in a wooded area near the Walmart store. No one was injured, according to police reports. WXII team members were at the store and reported the store was locked and closed around 12:30 p.m. The lights were turned off and a large number of officers were on scene. Officers confirmed the call was made at 11:40 a.m. The news comes just days after a shooting at a Food Lion in Kernersville. Winston-Salem police said gunshots were heard Sunday outside the Walmart on East Haynes Mill Road.
At 1 p.m., Winston-Salem Police told WXII they had cleared the scene, and officers determined the shots were fired in a wooded area near the Walmart.
No one was injured, police said.
WXII team members were at the store and reported the store was locked and closed around 12:30 p.m., the lights were turned off and there was a large police presence on scene.
Officers confirmed the call came in at 11.40am.
The news comes days after the mass shooting at a Food Lion in Kernersville.
