California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday became the latest state governor to support a smartphone ban in schools, joining a growing bipartisan movement calling for limiting smartphone use in classrooms.
Similar restrictions are already in place across states like Florida and Indiana. Individual districts and schools elsewhere are enacting their own policies. More could follow. New York Governor Kathy Hochle has said she plans to implement a similar ban next year.
