The Northern Lights could be visible in parts of the United States this weekend thanks to this week's unusually strong solar flare activity. Last year, the Northern Lights were photographed twice. Both in North Carolina and Virginia. A sighting was reported on March 24 along the Blue Ridge Parkway outside of Asheville, and there have also been sightings in Virginia. After capturing the explosion of color in the Shenandoah Valley, Peter Forister Photography shared the stunning images with WXII 12. “This night will remain in my memory as one of the most unexpected but surprising experiences I've had living in Virginia,” says Peter Forister on his Facebook page. A month later, additional sightings were reported along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Craggy Gardens area and along the Parkway in Floyd, Virginia. The aurora borealis may be visible in parts of the United States this weekend thanks to unusually strong solar flare activity.
Last year, the Northern Lights were photographed twice in both North Carolina and Virginia. On March 24, a sighting was reported along the Blue Ridge Parkway outside of Asheville.
There have also been reports of sightings in Virginia. After Peter Forister Photography captured the explosion of color in the Shenandoah Valley, he shared the stunning images with WXII 12.
