RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after a woman was found murdered in the woods late Monday morning.
At 11:15 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call of a deceased person in the 3700 block of Camley Avenue near Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. When officers arrived, they found the woman's body.
Deputies later revealed that the woman was not found inside the home, but in the woods along Camley Avenue.
Councilors added that the woman was also likely not a resident of that street.
Just after 5:10 p.m., the Wake County Sheriff's Office announced that it was investigating the woman's death as a homicide.
On Monday night, deputies said they had identified the woman but her name would not be released until her next of kin was notified.
The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing and no other information is available.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6911.
