Tyler Russi had a goal and an assist as North Carolina Courage defeated the Portland Thorns 2-0 in the National Women's Soccer League on Saturday night.
Just five minutes into the game, Russi slotted a shot into the left corner after Ashley Sanchez's corner kick bounced.
Portland almost tied the game when Morgan Weaver sent a through ball to Sophia Smith, but her shot went just wide.
In the 35th minute, Russi fired a shot from distance, but his header appeared to go wide, but Hayley Hopkins headed it home from close range.
North Carolina State (3-1-0) picked up its 100th win.The club is currently unbeaten 12 consecutive wins in regular season home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
The Thorns (0-3-1) currently sit at the bottom of the league with just one point after four games.
