City Hall for Georgia's Marjorie Taylor Greene representative on Tuesday was quickly plunged into chaos as police officers unfairly eliminated several protesters.
Green, a Republican fire brand and loyal ally of President Trump, barely reached the podium as the man in the crowd at Acworth Community Center rose to her feet, screamed, booed, and began screaming at her. As her supporters stood and applauded, several officers grabbed the man and were later identified by police as Andrew Russell Nelms of Atlanta, dragging him out of the room.
“I can't breathe!” cried Mr. Nermus, who was told to put his arms on his back. Police then used him twice with a stun gun.
Back inside her room, Greene was ecstatic as she greeted attendees at an event in Acworth, Georgia, northwest of Atlanta. She thanked the officers and garnered applause from the crowd of about 150.
“If you want to scream and chant, we'll let you delete you like the guy was abandoned,” she said. “We don't tolerate that!”
Minutes later, when Greene began playing a video of former President Barack Obama discussing national debt, police forcefully removed it and used a stun gun on the second man.
Over the next hour, officers escorted at least six people from the room when Green trumpeted that the government's Ministry of Efficiency efforts had reduced the government and railed against eyewitnesses at a committee hearing. Three people have been arrested, including two people who had their stun guns held back.
In between the upheavals at the event, Greene praised the Trump administration's efforts to deport the country and praised Congress for passing the Laken Riley Act, a measure that called for the detention of undocumented immigrants accused of certain crimes. Greene squealed about the doge team push to shutter US institutions for international development. Instead of asking questions directly from the audience, she read and answered the screen questions in advance from the slide deck.
“Why does MTG support Musk and Doge and support novelty in Medicaid, Social Security offices, libraries, etc.” Read one question from someone identified solely as Sarah. “This is outrageous.”
“Well, Sarah, unfortunately, you're brainwashed by the news you're watching,” Greene responded to hoops and cheers from the crowd.
Member Mike Binz, who was escorted from the room after screaming at Green, said the event felt more like a “political gathering” than the town hall.
Outside, hundreds of protesters line the streets, waving signs of having phrases like “Pro America, anti-Trump” and “Resistance!”
Asked if she thought using a stun gun on protesters at the event was a proper response, Greene repeated her praise for law enforcement officers.
“Do you know who was in the queue? Protestors,” Green said. “There was a place designated outdoors for protesters, because we support their First Amendment rights.”
