Iredell County, North Carolina (Queen City News) — Emergency crews battled a large, two-alarm fire in Mooresville Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Mount Mourne Fire Department, the large fire broke out just before noon on Tuesday, July 2, at 130 Ritchie Form Lane.
Drivers were asked to avoid Timber Road between Mecklenburg Highway and Shearers Road on Tuesday afternoon, where thick smoke was visible from several miles away.
Mount Mourne Fire Department reported the incident was a large “outdoor debris fire,” with a second alarm due to the size of the blaze.
The fire was under control by 12:37 p.m.
Two firefighters were treated and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire is being investigated by the Iredell County Fire Marshal's Office.
