Tracking the tropics: High temperatures arrive in North Carolina this week

Localized thunderstorms are possible along the Appalachian ridge on Tuesday. The heat wave will continue to bring high humidity and temperatures in the upper 80s F to the Piedmont Triangle and foothills. Temperatures may feel in the mid 90s F by Tuesday afternoon and evening. We are keeping a close eye on the tropics as a Gulf of Mexico system brings heavy rain and dangerous flooding to northern states and beneficial rains to South Texas.
