Will the conflict between India and Pakistan escalate further?
According to Pakistan, many Indian aircraft fell in Pakistan after India launched airstrikes in Pakistan-owned areas of Pakistan and Kashmir.
The current question is whether Pakistan decides that it needs to answer Indian strikes with its own attack on Indian soil.
For now, Pakistan says it keeps all its options open. However, diplomats and analysts expressed hope that an all-out war could be avoided. Pakistan's defense minister said he welcomed further US efforts to help ease the crisis with India.
Pakistani forces say more than 20 people have been killed and dozens have been injured after India struck six locations in Pakistan's Kashmir and Punjab. A local in the Indian side of Kashmir said at least 10 people were killed by fire from the Pakistani side.
Evidence has grown that even if India welcomed the “Operation Sindore” attack on Pakistan as a victory in response to the terrorist attack in Kashmir, which killed 26 people last month, their troops could have suffered significant losses.
perspective: My colleague Mujib Mashall, our South Asia Director, explained what led to this Times video strike. “The history of both of these countries was a truly controlled history of hostilities,” Mujib said.
Ground: These photos and videos capture scenes from Indian strikes in Pakistan and Kashmir.
Arm flow: When it comes to weapons, India vs Pakistan is also China vs. America, indicating a new integrity in this corner of Asia.
The Pope was not elected on the first day of Conclave.
Black smoke swelled from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel as the first round of the new Pope's vote ended without a decision. Cardinals' Conclaves will meet today and try again.
The first vote was not expected to create a new pope. The 133 Cardinals gathered at the Pope Conclave remain under the oath of full secret, without telephone or internet access, until a two-thirds of majority agrees to the candidate. This is how Conclave works.
What's next: Although we reached the decision in the last two within two days, we do not show how long the Conclave will take. As the process takes place primarily in silence, one veteran cardinal was advised to “bring the book with you.”

Israeli airstrikes killed dozens of people in Gaza
The Israeli defense minister said yesterday that airstrikes slammed Gaza and killed at least 59 people as Israeli defense ministers detailed plans to win more enclaves and bring all 2 million Gaza residents to the south.
One of the most deadly bombardments hit a crash near a popular cafe in Gaza city where young people were gathering to kill 33 using the internet, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health. The attack comes amidst a tragic humanitarian situation. Gaza hunger has skyrocketed since Israel imposed a lockdown on aid supplies in March.
The Israeli defense minister told the military that Gazan relocation was part of an attack that begins after President Trump's visit to the Middle East next week. Until then, Hamas had agreed to a new ceasefire negotiation and had a “window of opportunity” to free Israeli hostages, he said.
West Bank: The Israeli military is tightening control in its most drastic crackdown on the militants there of a generation.
When we think about the power that shapes us, our first thoughts may belong to our parents. But our siblings can play an equally large role (if not large) in who we become, from school life to sports. Read more about these rivals and allies.

So far, the best book of the year
We are on more than a third of the paths of 2025, and our review team has already written hundreds of books. Some were good. Some were very good. And there were things that we couldn't stop thinking about.
One of my favourites is “We Don't Separate,” a dreamlike novel that revisits violent chapters in Korean history. The other is “careless people,” a dark and funny exposure on Facebook.
