The man accused of killing seven people with seven powers during the July 4 parade held outside Chicago in 2022, pleaded guilty Monday as the opening statement was expected to start at a murder trial.
This man, Robert Crimyo III, pleaded guilty to 69 criminal numbers, including murder and attempted murder, resulting in at least seven consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
“This is what you want to do today, will you plead guilty?” asked Mr Crimmy, who sat facelessly in court, wearing a suit and tie, staring straight at him.
“Yes,” Crimyo said in affirmatively when asked if Judge Rossetti understood that he had been explained to him.
Judge Rossetti sent the ruling date on April 23rd.
Dozens of families of victims of the parade attack in Highland Park, Illinois, watched quietly from the gallery. Crimyo's mother, Dennis Pesina, called out from her courtroom seat when the plea was announced, but remained quiet after being warned by the judge.
