Eighth grade student found shot to death in Raleigh, North Carolina apartment.
You can warm up here in just a few minutes. Okay, Dylan, thank you. Greensboro police are searching for an armed robbery suspect. And officers say this happened last night at the Rehoboth Mart on Rehoboth Church Road. The store clerk told officers that a man pointed a handgun at her and demanded money. The suspect took the cash and fled. No one was hurt. It's happening now. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is working to keep old prescriptions out of the wrong hands. A drug recovery event will be held at 430 McDowell Road in Asheboro. Old medicines can be disposed of in your car. I do not have any questions. Group Safe Kids. Randolph County will also be handing out free medical lockboxes at the event. The Alamance-Burlington School Board is expected to get an update on the district's finances at tonight's meeting. Interim Superintendent Dr. William Harrison is working to close budget gaps caused by unexpected expenses. This includes mold remediation, water issues, school buildings, and utility bill increases over the past six months. In February, the board heard a proposal to close Alamance Virtual School, allowing the district to use the funds to help with this year's budget. Parents, teachers and students voiced their opposition to the plan. The school board is also working on next year's budget for the district and Davidson County. A public hearing on economic development incentives will be held tonight. The companies behind Project OWL plan to invest $53 million in new facilities over the next three years and create at least 105 new full-time jobs. If the hiring goal is met, commissioners could award the company more than $144,000 in incentives. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. in the Davidson County Commission chambers of the Lexington House of Delegates. Republicans are divided over House Speaker Mike Johnson. At issue is a bill passed over the weekend that bans TikTok and provides foreign aid to allies. As Bree Jackson reports, one Republican lawmaker said he would use this vote to move forward with his efforts to remove Speaker Johnson from office. There were 311 people in favor and 112 people against it. With the bill passed, the United States is one step closer to providing Ukraine with the assistance it needs to prevent Russian aggression. After the Duma passed the $95 billion aid package on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy praised the move in an exclusive interview with reporters. People have influence. First of all, I want to thank Congress and Chairman Johnson and President Biden for their bipartisan support. In fact, this aid from the United States is so important that the measures to provide Israel to Taiwan and more than $60 billion to Ukraine have been met with pushback from a minority of Republicans. They were angry that Chairman Johnson carried out his job in a bipartisan manner. I think all Americans in this country should be outraged, but Johnson is now under threat of being removed from the Speaker's chair by members of his own party. Currently, the pressure cooker has reached the highest local price. Because he took away all the leverage that was needed to send $100 billion overseas and do something at the border. But Democrats and some Republicans have vowed to vote for Johnson to remain speaker if the motion to vacate is in jeopardy. Abuse takes place in Congress every week. And I think that needs to be fixed. Speaker Johnson remains adamant that he is not going anywhere because he has a job to do. And the Senate is scheduled to vote on the foreign aid package in Washington as soon as Tuesday. Bree Jackson, NBC, ABC News Okay. Moving on to his 2024 pledges, in-person early voting begins Thursday for his two statewide runoff elections next month. Because no candidate received 30% of the vote in the March primary, Republicans will choose their candidates for lieutenant governor and state auditor in a runoff. All registered Republicans and independent voters who voted Republican or did not vote in the March primary are eligible to vote individually in the runoff.
