CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — Today, leaders from across North Carolina hosted a summit to introduce the state's suicide prevention plan and mental health resources for those who need help.
The conversation will center around suicide prevention and what leaders can do to share resources to help struggling communities.
The group came together at the UNC Friday Center in Chapel Hill to connect at a statewide summit on suicide prevention.
According to NCDHHS, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10-18 in North Carolina and the third leading cause of death for youth ages 19-34.
Topics discussed included an update on North Carolina’s suicide prevention plan, national suicide prevention resources and progress on the issue.
The meeting will last until 6 p.m.
