Network construction is part of Spectrum's $5 billion multi-year Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) investment in rural broadband
Charlotte, North Carolina – Spectrum is the nation's #1 rural internet provider*today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 160 homes and small businesses in Johnston County, North Carolina. The construction of Spectrum's new fiber-optic network in Johnston County is part of the company's approximately $5 billion in RDOF-related investments in underserved and rural communities, and the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) RDOF Partially offset by $1.2 billion in auctions.
The company's RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to 1.3 million customer locations across 24 states over the next few years. Spectrum also secured his more than $700 million in state broadband expansion grants, which, combined with Spectrum's investment, will connect an additional 300,000 homes and small businesses.
“Through RDOF, Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to underserved communities in North Carolina and across America,” said Tim Williams, Spectrum vice president of construction. “Our investment enables us to provide high-value broadband, mobile, television and voice services available in Johnston County. With their support, we are providing local residents and small businesses with great connectivity at a very competitive price.”
Up to 1 Gbps broadband speeds, cost-saving mobile options, and 85,000 free on-demand choices

Spectrum Business Internet offers customers 1 Gbps download speeds and 300 Mbps and 600 Mbps options. The company also began evolving its network to deliver gigabit upstream speeds and multi-gigabit download speeds across its 41-state service area.
“We are grateful for Spectrum's efforts to bring reliable broadband to rural Johnston County,” said State Sen. Benton Thorley. “Our community is in the midst of rapid suburbanization in the western suburbs. “Despite this, it still occupies a large portion of the county.” “They don't have access to high-speed internet, which is so important to the modern economy. This investment is another big step in addressing that problem. We're working in Raleigh to find ways to build rural internet infrastructure. I look forward to continuing.”
