With the NCAA Regional Tournament starting this week, let's take a look at where the South Carolina Gamecocks are expected to land.
The South Carolina Gamecocks finished their 2024 SEC slate before even being expected to make an appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament. They lost their SEC final game in overtime to the LSU Tigers and now await their fate in the NCAA Tournament.
D1baseball has released their predictions for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, and South Carolina currently holds an RPI of 20 and is projected to finish No. 2 in the North Carolina Region.
Forecast areas in North Carolina:

It's been an up-and-down year for the Gamecocks in the conference — their conference record (13-17) speaks for itself — but coach Mark Kingston says that's just a byproduct of the league being so tough, and that everyone has a chance to advance to Omaha.
“Honestly, in my opinion, every team in the league that goes to regionals has a chance to go to Omaha. I don't think there's any question about that. So it's just a matter of who gets a good draw, who plays well against teams that aren't as good, but every team in the league that goes to regionals has a chance to go to Omaha.”
