The son of a Dominican politician was shot to death outside a Houston gas station Monday night in what police said was an apparent “targeted” drive-by shooting.

The incident began Monday around 7 p.m., when Pacheco and three men in a black Cadillac Escalade stopped at a gas station in southeast Houston, authorities said.
The four entered the gas station and returned to the Escalade shortly after. Pacheco was shot and later pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities said. The other man injured in the shooting was “conscious and breathing” at the hospital Monday night, Chief Rodriguez said.
“We are confident that these individuals who were in the Escalade were targeted,” Chief Rodriguez said Monday.
Detectives are investigating the motive for the shooting, the police department said. Authorities are also searching for the four gunmen who fled the gas station after the shooting. Chief Rodriguez described them as Hispanic men in their 20s or 30s.
Law enforcement officials on Tuesday released photos of the gunmen from surveillance footage.
