RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for three counties in central North Carolina Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service's Raleigh office.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for east-central Moore County, southwestern Harnett County and northeastern Hoke County from 10:22 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., according to the weather service.
The severe thunderstorm was located 12 miles northeast of Southern Pines and was nearly stationary at the time the warning was issued, according to the National Weather Service.
The thunderstorms could bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and hail the size of a quarter. Authorities said hail damage to vehicles was expected.
The Meteorological Agency warned that “wind damage is expected to roofs, exterior walls and trees.”
Towns within the warning area include Whispering Pines, Vass and Cameron.
