Officials closed schools across Los Angeles County on Wednesday in response to wildfires burning in Southern California.
At least 18 of the county's 80 school districts issued statements announcing that schools would be closed for the day. Many urged parents to take precautions as the fires continued to rage and strong winds were also affecting the area.
āDue to ongoing instability due to high winds, power outages affecting multiple schools, and the nearby Eaton Fire, all AUSD schools will be closed,ā Azusa Unified School District said in a typical announcement. He added that the safety of the community is the top priority. It's a top priority. ā

The Alhambra Unified School District announced it would close all schools Wednesday to “ensure the safety of our students, staff and families.”
