80-year-old pilot injured in Franklin County plane crash, emergency responders say
Good morning. Thanks for tuning in. I'm Starr Connor, Dylan Hatler. Dylan, it looks like we're going to get some rain drops. Yeah, it looks like we're going to get a few. I walked behind the station and looked outside and it was a very light rain. It didn't seem like most of it reached the ground, just a few drizzles here and there, as we were expecting this morning. Still, the humidity is starting to pick up across the area. And the clouds that rolled in overnight have also made the temperatures a little more moderate. It's 67 degrees right now in Winston-Salem. Yesterday it was around 50 degrees. So it's not a huge difference in temperature and it's not as cool outside. It's 63 in Eden and 59 in Mount Airy. It's still in the 50s in the mountains, but again, it's not as cold as yesterday. It's feeling like June this morning, and it's humid. It's definitely moving across the region. The water vapor image shows that very well. It's humid, pink clouds high up, gray and pink clouds moving into North Carolina. Moisture is moving in. It feels a little humid outside this morning. Like I said, the rain is mostly light, scattered. Sure, it could rain from Reidsville to Concord, but not everyone in that path or band is really seeing it right now. So light rain is possible all across the Triad and even north of the Triad, towards Mount Airy and Danbury, Stuart, Virginia. That's probably where the heaviest rain will come in, and it will get up to 52 degrees towards Mount Airy. But still, you get the idea. Light rain in the morning. It's going to be pretty dry during the day. And then we might have a few more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. It's more like what you'd see in the summer, but it's going to be mostly cloudy and overcast on Sunday. With a southwest breeze, highs will be in the low 70s Fahrenheit, but overall it won't be a very rainy day. There will be a few showers and storms, but the humidity will return and continue to do so. So there will be a higher chance of rain and storms. I'll keep you posted with the long range forecast. Let's take a look at the weather for the rest of the week. Okay. Thanks. Dylan. It's 8:03 and the Davie County Sheriff's Office is providing an update on the bodies of a man and woman found Friday near the Iredell County line. Their bodies were found Friday morning in a wooded area near the Iredell County line, less than 10 miles from where authorities found her car.Investigators believe Gregory shot and killed Cynthia and then turned the gun on himself. Greensboro Police say the driver is facing charges of DUI following an early morning crash. The accident happened yesterday morning on West Market Street. Investigators say the driver ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The impact snapped the pole, knocking out power to nearby customers. Police say the driver was not injured and a section of West Market Street was closed for about six hours yesterday while crews cleared the scene and prepared and repaired the pole. An Idaho judge sentenced Chad Daybell to death for killing his wife and his girlfriend's two youngest children in 2019. The case made national headlines, and during the trial, prosecutors said Daybell promoted unusual spiritual beliefs, including stories of being possessed by evil spirits, to justify the murders. The defense said their client was the victim and placed the blame on his second wife, Lori Daybell, who was convicted and sentenced to life last year. Also, in other news, a teenager charged as an adult with murder at a South Carolina school will appear in court this week. 14-year-old Jordan Williams stood before a judge for arraignment and pleaded not guilty to murder. He is accused of killing 12-year-old Jamari Jackson on March 31, 2022. In March of this year, Williams appeared for a hearing to determine whether he would be tried as an adult based on various factors, as a circuit court judge ruled that Williams would be tried as an adult. Your client understands the terms of this indictment. I believe he understands, Your Honor. We have reviewed it. Okay. So how does he want to plead? He wants to plead not guilty, Your Honor.
