New Rosewood Hotel on Mexico's Pacific Coast
Riviera Nayarit Expansion – A stretch of about 200 miles along the Mexican coast is followed by a drive about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta, followed by the opening of Rosewood Mandalina. The 134-room hotel features 53 acres covered in lush, forested, farmland-studded, offering views of both the Sierra Madreo Cucidal Mountains and the ocean. The environment has been central to interior design, said Caroline Meersseman, principal of New York-based studio band x Seidel Meersseman. “95% of the rooms face the ocean,” she says. “We used as many windows and mirrors as possible to bring the exterior inside.” Aside from the beauty of nature, Mees representatives and her team inspired the Huichol and Kora cultures of the region's indigenous peoples. Mexican contemporary artists were asked to create decorative pieces and furniture found in all rooms. For example, Salvador Nuñez's sculpture ceramic light, resembling the native Peyote cactus, is each painted to refer to Hikol's art and crafts. A series of abstract murals based on traditional Huichol fairy tales by Guadalajara painter Marian Bear. The hotel's main restaurant, Lakosina, is another nod to the area, with seafood caught from the Pacific Ocean a few stories away (jackfruit, lobster tacos and spice shrimp). Rosewood Mandalina will open on May 8th. Starting from $1,000 per night. Rosewood.com.

Crispy red berries, a chile autumn celebration
Fall in Chile marks the seasonal arrival of Murta, where ancient wild fruits, variously known as multira, Chilean guava, or strawberry myrtle, are overflowing the country's southern landscape. With a floral and floral scent, it has a texture between the crisp blueberries and firm apples, Murta has been cherished throughout Chile, both for its distinct flavor and nutritional value. In Amaia, Maipu, a suburb of Santiago, chef of Ivan Zambra, the champion of Indigenous Chilean Foodways, he supports Murta Berry due to its crisp texture and natural acidity. From March to May, Zambra presents fresh red murta with vibrant herbal salads and tartare. To maintain the bounty of the season, he soaked berries to make syrup and jam, capturing the essence of year-round cooking, such as yogurt semifred and Lauren and Murta Panna Cotta. In Borago, in Santiago's Vitacra district, chef Rodolfo Guzman sources murta – he includes fresh, rare white varieties as seasonings and pretessatts – through a vast network of southern foragingrs. He resists saving as much berries as possible. “When you save them, you lose your soul,” he says. His team occasionally layer the flavor into the soup to ferment or dehydrated muta, but most often presents the fruit at aromatic peaks. This season, Guzman is debuting a dessert that combines Malta with tangy Patagonian rhubarb and rich sheep ice cream. “It's about celebrating the momentum of the land,” he says. Murta has found gardens and farms in some parts of Italy, New Zealand and the UK (although chef Dancox has soler sorbet, anise hisssop oil and fresh sarel leaves at Crocadon, an organic farm and restaurant in Cornwall), but Guzman points out that Killeran acquires a unique flavour. “You want to grasp that personality and emphasize all the other ingredients,” he says. “When it's fresh, it's just pure magic.”
New York-based artists Laila Gohar and Véronique Taittinger are owners and artistic directors of the overmade linen company Vis-a-Vis Paris, and have begun their first collaboration. The pleated duvet cover took nearly 500 hours to complete, but it was complicated. Point denode The embroidery style on the top sheet of the collection was once used by French nuns in the 15th century. Gohar's whimsical tendencies appear in the form of scalloped tablecloths embroidered so that a few multicolored beans appear to be scattered across the Belgian linen surface. For those concerned about the practicality of using such delicate pieces regularly, Tainting says that maintaining is surprisingly simple. “Without the dryer, but you can wash them. The more you use them, the better they will be.” Starting from $55, modaoperandi.com.

New take on brasserie at Grand Palais in Paris
When French interior architect Joseph Dilaland was asked to design a memorial to the Beau-Al-Arts, located right next to the restaurant (Champion Elycesi in Paris), within the Grand Palais, he saw it as an opportunity to honor the building's iconic past. “It's one of my favourite places in Paris,” he says. “Somewhere between the station and the cathedral – built for both the passage and wonder.” At Le Grand Café, which opens this week, Dirand has created a grand version of the traditional Parisian brasserie with a brick-built colour palette (nods to the original clay floor of Grand Palais), velvet banquets, wood paneling and snapped mirrors. The servers wear white jackets, and on a small stage, live jazz musicians are hosted under the restaurant's 60-foot ceiling. Outside, camellias and magnolias bloom on the stone terrace. The menu leaps to nostalgic, featuring the only Meunière of butter, steak au poivre and frotante. However, there are a few surprises, including a sweet bread with citrus veal and a sweet and flavored salad with green beans, raspberries and lobster. Legrandcafe-paris.com.

A layered depiction of a family ties painter
At Antonia Shower's new exhibition “Inline”, Timothy Taylor in New York – her first solo show since becoming a mother – the British painter explores the cycles and changing roles of life within the family. Showers in the shower can spend weeks on artwork, like in the eerie painting “Pruning” (2024), which pours oil paint onto the canvas of a distemper brush, showing another person in a situation that is both “sexual and surgical” while allowing a pool of colour. In the painting, she adds, “you can see the paint parim plague leading up to the final surface.” Her expressive compositions often feature these layers of layers. This is a ghostly trace of an older version of the artwork that can be seen either after evoking memories, regrets, and dreams or after they are painted. Also, the shower goes to the canvas with ideas in mind. Living and working in the idyllic Somerset, Shower says she feels she's separated from the cohort. Some of her new works came from these conversations. “The Washing Room” (2025) – Orange and purple light makes you happy with the room where a pensive naked woman sits in bed with her newborn baby beside her – her friend informed art historian Katy Hessel, who recently read an excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Excerpt from her upcoming book, “How To An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An An Each painting says, “it's about trying to translate and share feelings.” “In Line” will be on display from May 8th to June 21st. Antoni Gaudi is best known for his fantastic architecture in Barcelona, Spain, but his contributions to modernism in Catalan also included surreal spin furniture. For Casa Batlló, an aquatic-inspired building that Gaudi renovated between 1904 and 1906, he designed a custom wooden dining chair with a hammerhead shark-shaped backrest, thick, winding seats and sinwy legs. “The chairs look like animals. They have characters that make you want to leave,” says designer Giancarlo Valle, co-founder of Tribeca Gallery Casa Valle, which displays various replicas of the Nycxdesign festival. The presentation is collaborating with Spanish design company BD Barcelona, which has a license to replicate Gaudi's furniture using the same techniques and materials as the original.
