Just weeks after Paramount's controlling shareholder and Skydance abruptly terminated talks on a deal, talks between the two parties have resumed, three people familiar with the matter said Tuesday.
Paramount, the parent company of CBS, MTV and Nickelodeon, and Skydance, the up-and-coming film studio behind “Top Gun: Maverick,” called off talks just before a merger vote was scheduled to take place in June. The two sides had agreed to financial terms, but Shari Redstone, who is the controlling shareholder through Paramount's parent company National Amusements, clashed with Skydance in the final weeks of negotiations.
National Amusements is currently in talks with Skydance again about a potential deal, though it is not immediately clear what terms the two companies would work on to finalize the deal.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
