When at least one person was killed and others were injured Sunday night, the boat struck the ferry along with dozens of passengers near Memorial Causeway Bridge in Clearwater, Florida, authorities said.
The Clearwater Police Department said on social media that the boat driver who attacked Clearwater Ferry, which carried 45 people, fled after crashing. Police said at least two people were taken to a local hospital by helicopter.
It is unclear what led to the crash, and police did not say how many people were injured. According to the US Coast Guard, six people on the boat ran to the ferry.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading an investigation into the incident.
