Released. A Boone man has died. Following an accident involving a four-wheeler this morning, the North Carolina Highway Patrol announced the fatal crash occurred on Briarwood Lane in Watauga County, near Big Hill Road. The four-wheeler was traveling westbound when it struck a deer on the roadway, causing the driver, Carl Scott Norris, 38, to lose control and overturn his vehicle. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Investigators say a Suzuki quad bike was traveling westbound when it struck a deer in the roadway. The collision caused the driver to lose control and roll over.
