RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — The North Carolina Republican Party will seek to resolve the issue of who will represent the party in the races for lieutenant governor and state auditor.
Tuesday is voting day for the second 2024 primary election. In total, three Republican races and one independent race are scheduled to be decided. No other political party holds a second primary in North Carolina.

“Given President Trump's endorsement of Brad Knott as his 13th District Congressional candidate, it has become clear that our path to victory is no longer viable,” Daughtry said. “I believe in the democratic process and respect the support of the president.”
In his concession, Daughtry thanked his supporters and endorsed Knott.
“I asked my supporters to formally support Brad's campaign,” Daughtry said. “Likewise, I have talked to Brad and I know he will advocate and fight for the entire district. The future of our republic is too important to be divided by partisan politics.”
Although she has ended her campaign, she said she plans to dedicate her time to “conservative voter registration efforts and support for conservative judicial nominees running in November.”
Knott will now face Democrat Frank Pierce in the November general election.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections does not allow new voter registration or party changes in the second primary election. An individual who is eligible to vote between the primary and the second primary and would otherwise be eligible to vote in the second primary must register on his or her May 14th day of the second primary. Independent voters should be aware that there are some additional rules when voting in the second primary. To vote in a party's second primary, an independent voter must have either voted in that party's first primary or not voted in the first primary.
