TARBORO, N.C. (WNCT) — Parents are facing charges after a 2-month-old infant was found to have died from injuries inflicted on them.
On Wednesday, the mother and father of Kimani Gray, Tationa Hyman, and Kimani Gray, all of the 700 block of Greenwood Boulevard in Princeville, were arrested by Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office agents and charged with manslaughter. Ta. Both men were booked into the Edgecombe County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
Their arrest stems from an incident that occurred on March 27th. The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office received a call from ECU Health Tarboro about a 2-month-old male who was taken to the hospital by rescuers with head injuries. The Sheriff's Office Criminal Division immediately responded to the hospital.
The baby was taken to ECU Health in Greenville, where she later died after being removed from life support.
The Department of Social Welfare has also been notified about the incident. The Criminal Division began an investigation and determined that a child was injured.
An autopsy was performed on the boy and the cause of death was determined to be homicide due to intentional head trauma.
