WILSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Bobby Coleman of Kenly stopped to get gas Tuesday evening, bought a $5 scratch-off, and won his first in a new game, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery. He reportedly won the top prize of $200,000.
“It hasn't really hit home yet,” he said.
Coleman said he already knows what he will do with the prize money.
“I can use this for my daughter’s education,” he said.
Coleman purchased the winning bankroll ticket at the Oasis on South Church Street in Kenley.
“I like playing on new tickets,” Coleman said.
He arrived at lottery headquarters on Thursday to collect his winnings.
After withholding the required federal and state taxes, he took home $143,001.
In addition to her daughter's education, Coleman said she plans to use the winnings to repair her home.
