Pilot Mountain raises money through “Love the Library Tea and Silent Auction''
It's time to welcome our next live guest to the local atmosphere at 9:30. Yes, let's try it. The first Love the Library Tea and Silent Auction heads to Pilot Mountain. Tickets for the tea are sold out, but you can still support the library during the Silent His Auction. There are so many great things you can get there. Anna Nichols, branch manager of the Charles H. Stone Memorial Library, will tell you more. good morning. I am always grateful for your help. good morning. I'm really happy to be here. We would like to know about this event. Can you tell us more about your purpose for creating it and the original inspiration? That's right. Well, the purpose of this event is to be a fundraising event on behalf of the library and to modernize and refresh our facility and repair or restore a much-needed elevator. Rowan. we are very excited. Last fall, we heard from local residents who were interested in our community and living in a vibrant community. She certainly felt that the library was a big part of that. Of course we were very happy. And Anderson put together a strong team of very dynamic people from the area, who went to work and to the library. Tea was born. So we're looking forward to it. Yeah. of course. Looks like it's going to be a great time. I hear there will be over 125 items in the silent auction. Can you share some of them with us and tell us a little bit about them? 125 No, no, no. Yeah. I don't have time for that. But it might just be a sneak peek. Ah, my words. We are overwhelmed and just incredibly grateful for the generosity of this community and communities beyond. And we received basketballs and footballs from Duke, Carolina, North Carolina State and Wake Forest as part of the silent auction for this event at UM. Get ready to bid. Sports fans, now is the time to own a little bit of history and support libraries. Other wonderful items were also donated. We have paintings, pottery, stained glass, woodwork, wares, charcuterie boards, wooden boxes, quilts, uh, jewelry, uh, amazing hunting knives made by local artisans. only. Ah, there it is. amazing. There are musical instruments and Pilot Mountain memorabilia. Oh, DEPARTMENT 56 has been donated. There are some rare and very valuable items that have been donated to us. So we are looking for gift certificates. Don't miss out on experiences such as massages and skin care, or an overnight stay at Luna Trail's Big Creek Lodge. Well, he has four tickets to the Nascar Hall of Fame and a baseball ticket between Appalachia and Georgia. Ah, Georgia, southern Georgia. Oh, there's something for everyone in this auction. We're so glad you liked these gift certificates! Especially since these gift certificates were music to my ears. It was great to talk about them. Well, Anna, as I mentioned here at the beginning, this is the first time that the tea portion of this event is already sold out, which is truly incredible. What does this community support mean to you as a library administrator? We want to make sure that the work we do here at the library is loved and valued in our community and beyond. It's incredibly gratifying and encouraging to know that you are. Well, I'm humbled and very excited by this encouragement. And, um, I'm just deeply, deeply moved. We look forward to seeing the results so we can implement a number of programs that we would like to share with the community. Add a fresh look to this 67-year-old building. Our facility has been around for quite some time. We have been serving him since 1957. This money will be used to continue its tradition and impact on the area.
