KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) — A dump truck was using a cell phone moments before a head-on crash that killed one person, spilled diesel fuel and caused a six-hour road closure in Wake County Tuesday morning. driver was charged. said the official.

The driver of the dump truck, identified as Victor Eldred Adrian Sumner, 41, of Garner, was taken to Waku Med Rex with minor injuries. He was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, left of center, careless and reckless driving, operating a commercial vehicle while using a cell phone, as well as resisting and delaying investigation, according to 1st Prosecutor Christopher D.
