The 48-year-old man has been charged with stalking and vandalism, including crashing the car through the main gate of Jennifer Aniston's Bel Air Home, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The man, Jimmy Wayne Carweil, 48, is from New Albany, Michigan, and could face three years in prison, the District Attorney's Office said in a news release. He has repeatedly harassed Aniston and has been accused of “sending unnecessary social media, voicemails and email messages” for about two years starting on March 1, 2023.
“Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous and violent behavior, and can pose a threat to the safety of our victims and our community,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a news release.
Prosecutors say Carweil is also accused of crashing his car through the main gate of Aniston's home on Monday. He then stopped in Aniston's driveway and was taken into custody by her security guard before police arrived and arrested him, according to a news release.
Aniston's vast Bel Air Mansion was featured in the Architectural Digest last week. Aniston also hosted a 2015 wedding with actor Justin Theroux from his home. The actor is currently divorced.
In a video posted on Facebook by Mississippi's longtime friend Marty Merritt after the coronavirus pandemic, Mr. Carweil's longtime friend, Marty Merritt, God began declaring that he wanted him to marry Mr. Aniston. Merritt said he knew Mr. Carweel at school and became friends as adults when they began attending the same church.
The pandemic has changed things, Merritt added that Kerweil has begun to send him an outrageous message.
Aniston could not be immediately contacted for comment.
“I'm sorry Aniston happened to you,” Merritt said in the video.
