Man faces multiple charges after two dogs were killed and 12 seized from a Davidson County home, police say
From the Weather Team. This is the news for tonight. Another troubling case of animal cruelty has neighbors upset and concerned. Warning: details of this story may be hard for some to hear. Christopher Mullins faces 16 counts of animal cruelty after police found two decapitated dogs on the front porch of his home over the weekend. Chris Petersen spoke with a neighbor, who called 911. That's right, the neighbor I spoke to was so shocked by what she saw that she couldn't stand in front of the camera. She says that one of Mullins' puppies, Nugget, ran back to her house. When she went to return Nugget, she found the two dog bodies lying on her front porch and called 911. It was horrifying, and Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons couldn't better describe the scene his men encountered when they approached this home. Two decapitated dogs were lying on the front porch in First Circle, just outside of Lexington. Sheriff Simmons said his men are still dealing with the incident they witnessed. Anyone who sees something like this is shocked. This is something that doesn't go away easily. As you know, the homeowner, Christopher Mullins, has been arrested and charged with killing two dogs and abusing 12 puppies. The puppies also lived in the home. The puppies were sick and had to be euthanized. Sheriff Simmons said animal control went to the home on Friday after receiving a complaint that Mullins was abusing animals, but they didn't notice anything. Criminal law enforcement returned within 24 hours and made a horrific discovery. We do our best to protect people who can't protect themselves, and my animal control department does an exceptional job. They really do. Do they? They, you know, respond very quickly. They try to look at everything, but sometimes, they may not be able to see everything you can hide, and we can hide things that we don't have a right to go to. Christopher Mullins remains in the Davidson County Jail on $500,000 bail.
