Charlotte, North Carolina (queen city news) — Mecklenburg County court documents released Friday reveal a Charlotte man arrested in connection with the disappearance of a Belmont man admitted to dumping the body in a trash can and failing to report the death to police. did.
Andrew Tench, 31, was reported missing on March 25 and was last seen in Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. His car was found abandoned in Monroe, Gaston County police said.
On Thursday night, 26-year-old Sean Montrell Robinson was arrested following an interview with police on Thursday, April 11, and charged with:
- Felony of concealing death
- Felony identity theft
- Felony financial card theft (2 counts)
- Felony of financial card fraud
- Felony theft of motor vehicle
- Financial card fraud (3 cases)
CMPD said a search was also conducted at Robinson's home.
Court documents released Friday revealed that while CMPD was questioning Robinson, he told authorities that Tench had died. “He threw the victim in the trash and did not notify police of the death,” Robinson said.
Records also show Robinson used Tench's bank card to make purchases at Dick's Sporting Goods and Target stores in Matthews on March 25. Surveillance video obtained from both retailers showed Robinson using Tench's card and driving Tench's vehicle, a tan Hyundai Elantra with NC tags.
Prior to the confession, Tench's mother posted a message to the suspect on Facebook that read, “Mommy should never have to go through what you are putting me through!”
The report lists $7,000 worth of theft and property damage. An additional search warrant for Robinson's cellphone showed photos of Tench's North Carolina driver's license and bank card used for several transactions.

Robinson is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail on a $150,000 secured bond on charges of “concealing or failing to report a death” and $30,000 secured bail on charges of fraud and theft, according to court records. . He has a significant criminal history, including robbery, assaulting a police officer, and drug possession.
Robinson is scheduled to return to Mecklenburg County Court on May 1, records show.
Tench is believed to have been out celebrating her birthday before she went missing.Police have not revealed how he died.
