RICHMOND COUNTY, N.C. (Queen City News) — Chad Dwayne Giddens, 37, was arrested after allegedly stealing a school activity bus, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
On May 29, officers noticed a cord running from the meter base of one home to another home that was not supposed to be occupied.
The deputy contacted the property owner and asked if he could go inside and have a look around since the home was not supposed to be occupied.
While on the property, officers noticed a school event bus parked between two residences and upon contacting the school bus garage, it was determined the bus had been stolen from their property.

Police reviewed security video and identified the suspect on the bus as Giddens, of Ellerbe.
Officers found Giddens hiding in a closet in a vacant home.
Giddens was arrested and charged with felony trespass, felony damage to utility company property and felony theft of a motor vehicle.
He is currently being held in the Richmond County Jail without bail.
