FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Several apartment residents were rescued from a fire Saturday morning, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department.
At 5:55 a.m., the Fayetteville Fire Department responded to an apartment complex in the 900 block of Tamarack Drive, near James Hammer Way.
After initial responders arrived, crews observed heavy smoke coming from the three-story apartment building. A fire was declared and additional units responded.
Crews went into attack and rescue mode. At least eight residents were rescued from the building, according to the fire department. As of 6:30 a.m., firefighters remained on scene and continued to fight the blaze.
Fayetteville firefighters said no one was injured.
Residents are asked to avoid the area while crews are working.
At press time, no decision had been made regarding Red Cross assistance and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
