Eden police are asking for help finding missing woman, officer says
Sign up to get it. good morning. Thank you for your participation. I'm Star Connor, along with Dylan Butler and Dylan. We have seen pictures coming in from the northern lights. Oh, I mean, are you kidding? This is beautiful North Carolina. Never in my life did I think we would meet them. This is obvious and I think for most people this is the first time they've seen it. Things like this don't happen very often in North Carolina. If you have a long exposure camera, you're unlikely to see them tonight, but the views last night were truly spectacular. Diana Best and Pilot Mountain sent us this photo, and many others have sent us theirs as well. Also check out Neil Stanfield's Light Pillar in Pilot Mountain. See Pilot Mountain there. Silhouette on the horizon background or backdrop. It was a beautiful night. For many of us, it is certainly unforgettable. It's a chilly start as I look out at the northern lights from my backyard. I went out early this morning and looked at the lights and noticed that although some people are in their late 40s, most people are in their 50s, it's still quite cool outside and the air is very dry. You've probably noticed that. This helps create a crisp and refreshing feel. Dew points are in the 40s for him, but a few days ago he was in the 60s. So the humidity has dropped significantly and we, and the entire Carolinas, are feeling very nice and cozy right now. Clear sky. It will be sunny for a while. A few more clouds will move in later today. Currently, thanks to the disturbance moving through the Great Lakes, this low pressure system won't move much, but the cold front will start swinging south and east toward our region. So we'll see some clouds increase in the afternoon. Possibly a low chance of spray or drifting rain. But today most people are dry. It's going to be a great day. Humidity is low in the Piedmont Triad, with highs in the low 70s. Again, I haven't received much Futurecast, but I can see some blips popping up on the radar later tonight. A brief period of light rain is possible. Then it dries from there. Tomorrow is Mother's Day. Guide you by the hour and help plan outdoor activities with mom or predict the weather changes for the next week. It all takes just a few minutes. Okay. thank you. Dylan, a man has been arrested after a shooting in High Point last week. Lorenzo Aguilar faces numerous charges, including three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Last week, a 19-year-old boy told officers someone fired shots at his car in the area of Valley Ridge Drive and Nathan Hunt Drive. The victim was not injured, and police said at the time of his arrest that Aguilar was on probation for a separate incident in 2022, and that the high-ranking man had been charged with sex crimes and child sex crimes. Ricky Vernon, 63, was arrested by Superior Police and the FBI. Vernon is charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and felon in possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Expect additional charges in Winston-Salem. Police are searching for the driver who took off after a crash at Virgrave Street and Hill Street. Investigators say two vehicles were involved and there were injuries, but they have not released the extent of the injuries. At the tearful plea of her mother who lost her son to gun violence, Sonya Nelson's son Terry Aldridge was shot and killed at a convenience store on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greensboro in 2017. It was done. He later died in a hospital without an arrest or new leads. Governor Cooper announced an increased reward for the motorer's arrest. Chris Peterson spoke with her mother and she also joins us to discuss her now and her cooperation in the petition. I miss him, I miss Sonya, and Nelson says she thinks about her son every day. Her smile and her laughter were gone. he was funny Hmm. he loved his family. He had three children. Well, he actually just had a grandma. Abby Nelson said she received a call from the hospital in the early morning hours of January 14, 2017, informing her that her son had been shot. We went to the emergency room and were told he had to undergo surgery. Well, he was out of surgery under investigation, but Greensboro police saw him red-hot on surveillance video from a convenience store charging his cell phone. He then left and approached his car in the parking lot. They saw him approach a car or something, and when he tried to do so, they turned the camera around. He was lying on the ground. Since his son's death, Nelson has joined Mothers Against Gun Violence, a support group for victims' families. She says it helps heal. Because I hope I can help the next person. Now, Nelson is hoping for a sliver of justice. I mean, he's still dead so it's not the best news, but at least we know someone is, uh, paying for it. Greensboro police say someone may have witnessed Aled's murder, and they're hoping someone with the $30,000 reward will come forward with information.
