On May 22, 2024, Donald Ray Obermyer passed away at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
Don was born on December 9, 1946 in Washington, Indiana.
He grew up in Jasper, Indiana, and graduated from Evansville North High School.
After graduating from the University of Evansville, he married Glinda in 1967. The couple lived in Indiana, Mississippi, and finally North Carolina with their twins, Tony and Angie.
He enjoyed sports, landscaping, dog-sitting, joking around with everyone, and spending time with his family, especially to the annoyance of his wife, taking his grandchildren around in things he deemed too dangerous.
He is survived by his wife, Glinda, son Tony (Candace) of Clemmons, daughter Angie (Donnie) Simmons of Advance, three grandchildren Michael Tony Honeycutt, Addison and Evan Obermeyer, and sister Sandy (Brad) Tyler of Cadiz, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Gene, and three brothers, Jerry, Dave and Ed Obermeyer.
There will never be another Don Obermyer. He will remain in our hearts forever until we meet again. Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Forsyth Memorial Hospital and everyone else who showed their kindness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held with the family at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
