North Carolinians will soon have the option to choose a digital driver's license.
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolinians will have the option for a digital driver's license starting in July 2025 after Governor Roy Cooper signed House Bill 199.
From Apple Pay to Google Pay, many of us use our phones to manage concert tickets, plane tickets, even car insurance and soon, driver's licenses.
HB 199 includes a digital license provision that would allow users to decide if they want a mobile license.
The DMV commissioner supports the idea, saying it would be more secure than physical cards.
