Border Patrol arrests family in Charlotte
After Border Patrol agents showed up at an after-school care facility for migrant children in Charlotte, North Carolina, officials were called in to deliver food and supplies to local families in hiding. The New York Times spoke to a mother of three children who said they had not left the house for several days.

This after-school program in East Charlotte is a safe haven for immigrant children. But today there are reports of Customs and Border Protection agents approaching. Staff quickly sealed off the building. They say this is the second day in a row that immigration enforcement officers will be out in force. We're now walking up to where CBP has been sighted here. In a statement to the Times, the Department of Homeland Security said it did not target schools or daycare centers and denied attempting to enter buildings or make arrests. More than 370 people have been arrested across Charlotte, and a large portion of the immigrant community has been sent into hiding. Regardless of their legal status, many families are stuck at home in fear. people stop working. Businesses are closed and children are out of school. About 20% of the city's student population was absent from school on Monday, according to city officials. Maria asked that only her name be used for fear of being arrested. She and her husband are both in the country illegally, and their three children have not left home in four days. Hourbridge canceled its after-school program after the Border Patrol showed up on Monday. Its staff are now delivering food and supplies to families like Maria who are hiding with their children. The particular family we were heading to right now contacted our team and told us what they specifically needed. That's what we drop. In just two days, the number of delivery requests jumped from 40 to 267. Maria said she doesn't know when her immigration work will end, but she plans to stay home with her husband until it ends.
