A bill requiring North Carolina universities to play against each other in football “will not move forward,” according to Andrew Carter of the Raleigh News & Observer. State Rep. Tim Moore said House Bill 965, which would “preserve the rivalry between NC State and NC State if they end up in different conferences,” “was debated as scheduled.” Moore said, “It was debated in committee. We told them it could be debated in committee, but it's not on the agenda.” Carter noted that the bill would “require NC State and NC State to regularly schedule football and men's and women's basketball games against Appalachian State, Charlotte and East Carolina.” It would also “require NC State to continue to play against NC State” in case a conference realignment would take the two schools on separate paths. Earlier this week, the bill passed the House Education Committee “without any debate, in about a minute.”Raleigh News & Observer, 6/6).
