Asheboro Police are searching for a man who reportedly chased two girls through a home and then tried to break in. The incident happened on English Street just before 6:30 a.m. Friday. Investigators say the girls were walking outside when a man in a car approached them. The girls saw a gun in the car and left the scene. Police say the man followed the girls to a family member's home nearby. He was unable to open the door and left the scene. The suspect is described as a male with short hair, wearing a black patterned T-shirt and black shorts. The car is white, tan or cream in color with tinted windows and is possibly a Honda or Toyota. Asheboro Police Department officers are asking for help locating a suspect who attempted to break into a home on English Street. Officers said the man spoke to the girls and asked if they should go to school. When the boys found a handgun in the car, they drove off toward English Street. Two boys said the man got out of the car and followed them to a family member's house nearby. Officers said they were able to get inside the vehicle and lock the doors, but the suspect tried to open both the front and side doors but was unsuccessful. The man then left the home. The two juveniles said a man got out of his vehicle and followed them to a family member's nearby home. Officers said they were able to enter the home and lock the doors, but the suspect unsuccessfully tried to open both the front and side doors. The man then left the home.
