Amazon is deepening its relationship with President Trump.
Amazon Prime Video announced on Monday that multiple seasons of “The Apprentice,” a 2000s reality series that will help raise Trump's national profile, will soon be available on streaming services.
The first season of the show, which premiered in 2004, will be available on Prime Video starting Monday. Amazon said a new season of “The Apprentice” will be available every week, culminating in the seventh season of the show, and will debut on the streaming service in late April.
Trump expressed his enthusiastic approval in a statement released by Amazon.
“I look forward to this doing my own show. It's such a great memory, so much fun, but most importantly, it was a learning experience for all of us!” he said.
This is the second most well-known deal Amazon has made with the Trump family this year. In January, Amazon announced that it would release a “behind the scenes” documentary about first lady Melania Trump. Mrs. Trump became the executive producer of the documentary, and Amazon said at the time that she was “excited to share this truly unique story.”
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said late last year that he was “very optimistic” about the upcoming Trump administration. Like other tech giants and Silicon Valley companies, Amazon has donated $1 million to Trump's first fund.
Bezos also owns the Washington Post, which has gone through a long period of uproar, including after Bezos decided not to support the candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Bezos traces his opinion back to the paper, saying he will emphasize “personal freedom and the free market.”
The show's ratings lost steam over time, but NBC's “The Apprentice,” debuting in 2004, was a hit.
Trump is the show's executive producer, and as a result, he will almost certainly receive compensation from the New Deal with Amazon. A company spokesman declined to comment on the financial arrangements.
In a statement, Mark Burnett, reality show Mogul who served as executive producer of “Apprentice” expressed excitement over the new streaming deal.
“The “Apprentice” is one of the best shows I've ever produced,” Burnett said in a statement released by Amazon.
