Apple is reportedly shelving plans for a massive new campus in North Carolina. Apple submitted development plans for the first phase of construction last year, but no specific timeline for the project had been disclosed until now. Apple's plans for Research Triangle Park include six buildings and parking lots totaling 700,000 square feet of office space, 190,000 square feet of accessory space and nearly 3,000 parking spaces across 41 acres.
Apple owns 281 acres in the area where it plans to build its campus, and construction could ultimately occur in several phases. In preparation for building its North Carolina research center, Apple has leased more than 200,000 square feet of office space in Cary, North Carolina.
